The Pianist’s Studio

A studio for a pianist on the North Norfolk coast.

Set within the North Norfolk coast AONB, overlooking salt marshes and shingle beaches, the studio functions as an annexe building, providing a space for practice and contemplation.

The structure comprises of a primary column and beam, upon which a pair of opposing roofs are supported. The space is enclosed by a lighter weight timber frame envelope, clad with corrugated metal externally and Douglass Fir plywood internally.

A series of carefully positioned openings frame expansive vistas across the surrounding landscapes and offer carefully managed natural lighting to internal spaces.

The designs incorporate a mezzanine space for occasional rest, with a kitchenette hidden beneath.
